New Year, Advanced Allergy Therapeutics, My First Reiki Experience, & Kicked Up Cashew Berry Smoothie Bowl

Happy Friday!!!  Actually…Happy New Year!!!  I know, I know…New Year is long gone. But actually, not for me. Being away in Hawaii for 10 days and not being home for New Years, made this week my New Year. So here I am…New year, new goals, new opportunities. I have to say, I’m pretty excited for the possibilities. My expectations are pretty high, so hopefully I can fulfill them…LOL! We will see!  But really…whatever happens, happens for a reason, so we just flow through and enjoy the ride, right?

My trip to Hawaii was awesome, but I was so happy to be home. It’s amazing how much I thrive in my own environment. And when I’m out, I’m miss it terribly. I miss my bed, I miss my cooking and I miss my routine. I actually did really well with eating on vacation. The best I’ve ever been. I was proud of myself, I must say. I usually let myself go and indulge way too much, coming home feeling horrible. Not this time!  I felt great when I came home. I spent the latter half of the week catching up and getting situated back at home. Then this past Monday hit, the New Year begun and so did my Shred10 group. I’m joining them this time around which always makes it more fun!  So far so good with everyone!  Eating clean, filling their bodies with tons of fruits and veggies and just feeling good!  They are all on their way to a healthier lifestyle…one I hope they will stick with once they notice the positive changes.

So, in my last blogs I talked about the Advanced Allergy Therapeutics I’ve been doing. This week I went back twice. The first day was to work on dairy and the second was grains.  Oh boy…still I’m a  hot mess.  For diary, the biggest one that came up was dairy from cows…dairy hormones, pasturized proteins, cheese, milk and yogurt.  Then there were the components of those…molds, preservatives, casein, rennet and things I’ve never even heard like quinones, furfual and quercetin.  In any case, it’s all in diary and my body doesn’t like it.  Not surprisingly, diary from goat and sheep came up fine.  I’ve never had sheep, but when I do have goat, I haven’t had issues.  Ugh…then there was grains.  I won’t go into major detail, but the list was so long that we couldn’t even fit it all in one day.  Dr. Holly was able to get all the grain except wheat, which was a huge one.  See…when she finds something like “wheat”, there’s tons of components to check under wheat.  I was coming up positive for so many wheat components that she wouldn’t be able to do all the other grains that came up positive…like rice and quinoa and so many others.  So, we did all the grains and their components, except wheat, which will have to be done on it’s own another day.  Still to be worked on now is wheat, honey and also nuts.  Then we’ll be doing “emotions”…yup…emotions.  I’ll get into that another day.

If you follow me on Facebook & Instagram, you will have noticed that January is all about Project Me.  It’s about taking care of you…and of course, me taking care of me. 🙂 Doing things like the Allergy Treatments is something I decided to do for me.  This week I was lucky enough to add another component in.  So, my beautiful friend, Cassandra, just started her own business called Sexy to Your Soul.  You can check out her website at www.sexytoyoursoul.com.  She supports women in leading vibrant lives through health, healing and self-care.  And she is just one of the sweetest people I know.  I ended up winning a contest she had going on FB and was able to have a session with her last night.  We did a Reiki session, which I’ve never done before.  I had no idea what to expect, but I absolutely loved it.  Actually, I was so relaxed, I fell asleep and woke myself up a few times snoring (oopsie).  I was seriously in the deepest relaxation state.  She also read my chakras.  Cassandra said I was grounded and had very strong energy.  There was one thing I found very fascinating.  When she was at my right shoulder, she felt there was pain or something there, which I do always have issues with my right shoulder.  But, also when she was there, she kept hearing “What’s stopping you!”.  Note the exclamation point…not a question mark.  It was screaming at her.  It wasn’t a question…it was a “GO DO IT”.  Why is this fascinating to me?  Well…my right shoulder issues stem from a surgery I had almost 8 years ago.  After that surgery is when this journey to health started.  I have always “blamed” my food issues on that surgery.  The surgery was horrible and the recovery was even worse.  It was then when I started having chronic pain, which lead me to food elimination, which lead me to Paleo.  My right scap/shoulder when I workout is very weak.  It stops me from feeling like I can do certain things at the gym because it scares me.  It’s a block.  But, all of this has lead me to where I am today…Sharing my passion for health and eating clean.  Sharing my passion for food, and fueling our bodies with all the right things.  Being able to help people on a daily basis feel healthier and happier is what I LOVE.  But…I do know deep down, there’s still something missing.  There’s still more in addition to what I am doing now.  My mind is constantly going and my wheels are turning, but I get scared.  Scared of what people will think…scared I will fail.  But really…what if?  What if I wasn’t scared?  What’s stopping me??  It was a sign for sure to go with my heart and make my dreams happen.  So…2017…new year…new opportunities.

Oh…Cassandra also kept thinking about my brother during the session.  She said even before the session started she thought of him.  I have two, so I don’t know which one or why.  But, I found that interesting.  She also kept hearing the name Josh.  I don’t even know a  Josh!…LOL!  But, it must mean something, so we will see.  I’ll most certainly be keeping my eyes and ears open 🙂

Ok…that’s it for my storytelling this week 🙂  How about my Outfit of the Week?  Any ladies out there love Francesca’s?  I do!!!  I find the cutest dresses and tops there…and jewelry.  But what I love the most about it is that it’s not expensive!  There is one dress there that has become a staple for me.  Pictured here in purple.  You can dress this up or down and it’s sooooo comfy and flowy and I love the cut.  In this pic, I was heading to church, so it’s appropriate for that.  I’ve also worn it out to dinner and on vacations.  Best part?  It comes in so many pretty colors!  I have it in purple, kelly green, mint green, navy blue, coral and patterned.  Ummmmm…yes.  I have that many!  I told you they are a staple.  LOL!  Go check them out.

 Now onto food!  So, I must admit.  I had a dinner recipe planned for this week, but it ended up being a bit of a fail…it happens.  The meal was Crockpot Steak Fajitas.  Now, it was delicious!  Flavors were spot on.  The problem?  There was way too much liquid in the pot, which made for super messy fajitas.  I put them in the Siete Foods paleo wraps and it dripped all over and the wraps fell apart…booooo!!!  So, back to the drawing board on that one!  I will try again…maybe the oven instead.  We will see.  I did make Fed & Fit’s paleo Sour Cream, which tasted amazing on them!  And made a shortcut “cheater” guacamole, which was also delicious.  Damn liquid!  Oh well.

So, I decided to come up with something else, but it had to be simple because I was running out of time.  In honor of my Shred10 group, I thought I’d come up with a yummy smoothie bowl to mix up the smoothies they are having during the 10 days.  This was sooooo good!  The secret “kicked up” ingredient?  Fresh ginger!  Most definitely gives it a good kick.  This came out so thick like ice cream.   You can top it with whatever you like, but I did blueberries, cocoa nibs and unsweetened shredded coconut.  If you’d rather make a smoothie to drink and not a thick smoothie bowl, sub the coconut milk to almond or flax milk instead and use 1 cup instead of 3/4 cup.  Make this and enjoy!

  1. Ready? Instructions are tough... Put it all in a blender, and blend. 🙂 Enjoy!
  2. NOTE: This is very thick. If you have a Vitamix, use the wand to help mix it. If you have a regular blender, you may have to stop the blender and stir to mix a few times until completely blended.
