Kitchen Tips!

Day 2 of sun! I’m loving this ?. Yesterday I met with a client who struggles in the dinner department. She’s trying to plan, but life gets in the way. Sometimes other things come up during the day and sometimes the day gets so busy that she’s at the grocery store at the last minute scrambling to find something to make. We talked a ton about the process of menu planning and meal prepping.

But prepping is not always just about prepping for the meals. It does play a bit part in making your weekday meals easier, but we also talked about some other prep tips that would help. Besides meal prep here’s a few kitchen tips:
#
• Stock up on meats for your freezer. Some people don’t like to freeze meat, but it has saved me to have extra. Especially on days where things don’t go as planned. You always have “something” you can make
#
• To quickly and safely thaw meat, place frozen packaged meat in a sink or large bowl with cold water. It thaws quicker than on your counter or on the fridge.
#
• When you get home from the grocery store, wash and spin dry all your greens (lettuce, kale, herbs, etc…). Then line gallon size zip lock bags with paper towels and store the greens in the bags. They will stay fresh much much longer! My kale lasts for 2 weeks…if i don’t eat it first, of course ?

• Also when you get home from the store cut/cube up fruits like melon and pineapple and store them in containers in the fridge. They will last longer as they won’t accidentally be left on the counter to overripen and the bonus is its always ready for be eaten at any point!

• On the weekends cook up some extra protein to have on hand during the week. I always do a marinated flank steak and chicken. I slice it all up and store in the fridge for the week. Perfect to top salads (which can all be prepped ahead of time) or to just have with some greens and sweet potato for lunch. It’s there to eat…no excuses!

These are just a few things you can do to make your weekdays easier so you can stay on track with your clean eating goals. And there’s so many more! Just a little bit of work goes a long way to make your life easier!! I’m always here to help and I love to teach!
